The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has said that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is not adequately prepared for the 2027 general elections.
Speaking during a live media parley in Abuja on Friday, Wike stated that the PDP lacks the strong, cohesive structure required to effectively challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the upcoming polls.
While opposition figures across the country are working to form a united front against the APC, Wike noted that internal divisions and conflicting interests among key stakeholders continue to hinder meaningful coalition efforts.
Wike said: “The PDP is not ready for the 2027 election. It is very obvious. For instance, I have an examination and I am going to class to read. Indeed, am I reading? Am I studying? You don’t need to deceive anybody that you are reading. You are only trying to read so that people will see that you have carried your bag to class.” He likened this to the situation of PDP adding that, “they cannot confidently say they are prepared for 2027. The ongoing power struggles within the party are doing more harm than good.”
