By Yadnom Awu/Asaba
American President, Donald Trump,, his Ukrainian counterpart, Volodymyr Zelensky, and leaders of the European Union (EU) member- states as well as Britain have ended their Washington meeting after which they spoke cautiously of progress.
The meeting attracted Trump, Zelensky, the Prime Minister of Britain, Sir Keir Starmer, his Finnish, French, German counterparts as well as EU commission officials.
At the end of the meeting, there was a general upbeat atmosphere with most leaders thumbing up Trump for the talks and the progress.
Part of the initial agreements are the American agreement to be part of a security guarantee for Ukraine, and a bilateral meeting of Trump, Zelensky and President Vladimir Viktor Putin of Russia.
There was an agreement, in principle, for Ukraine not to join the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO,) which had been at the heart of its desire, and for territorial swap with Russia.
No date has been fixed for the trilateral meeting, nor has a venue been picked but it is expected to be outside the shores of the two feuding countries- Russia and Ukraine.
