Troops of the 401 Special Forces Brigade, Sector 1, Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), in collaboration with local hunters, have carried out a clearance operation around Tatyough in Makurdi LGA, Benue State.
According to Captain Abdullahi Lawal Osabo, Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, the troops encountered suspected bandits during an escort mission for a bereaved family to Tse-Ayele village. One bandit was neutralized near Tse-Akaajime village, while others fled, leaving behind items including two Tecno phones and three motorcycles.
All identified bandit camps in the area were destroyed to prevent regrouping. Troops remain deployed in Tatyough, conducting constant patrols to ensure security.
Acting Commander, Colonel KO Bukoye, praised the troops’ efforts and urged them to remain vigilant in the fight against criminal elements in the state.
