In a historic and spiritually charged ceremony, three brothers — James Oche, Paul Oche, and Joseph Oche — alongside their spouses, were on Sunday conferred with the prestigious Knighthood of the Anglican Communion Church of Nigeria under the Order of Saint Christopher.
The solemn investiture, held at the Cathedral Church of St. John, Anglican Communion, Diocese of Otukpo, was presided over by the Diocesan Bishop, Rt. Revd Benjamin Enwuchola. The service formed part of the church’s weekend activities, which coincided with the 50th anniversary celebration of the Public Complaints Commission (PCC) in Nigeria.
Speaking during the ceremony, Rt. Revd Enwuchola described the conferment as a recognition of the Oche family’s steadfast devotion to the work of God, their long-standing support for the church, and their exemplary service to humanity. He explained that the honour of knighthood is reserved for individuals whose faith, integrity, and service reflect the virtues of St. Christopher — the patron saint of travelers and defenders of the faith.
“The Oche family has shown unwavering commitment to the growth of the church and the propagation of the gospel. This honour is not just a recognition but a call to higher service — to defend the faith, uphold virtue, and stand firm as ambassadors of Christ,” the bishop stated.
The investiture came shortly after the Benue State chapter of the PCC, led by Mr. James Oche — who serves as the Honourable Federal Commissioner in charge of the Commission in Benue State — held an awareness walk on October 16, 2025, to commemorate the Commission’s Golden Jubilee.
Reacting to the honour, Mr. Oche expressed deep gratitude to the church on behalf of his brothers and their families, describing the knighthood as a rare and humbling recognition. He pledged that the Oche family would continue to serve God faithfully and support the mission of the church.
“This is an unprecedented honour for our family. We see it as both a blessing and a responsibility to live as examples of Christian virtue in our community and beyond,” he said.
The ceremony was attended by dignitaries from various walks of life, including senior clergy, traditional leaders, political figures, and the management staff of the PCC Benue State Office, led by Acting Director of Investigation, Mr. Kpaakpa Terkura, and Deputy Director of Investigation, Mrs. Ene Lucy.
