Hitherto, the seemingly Sisyphean task of navigating the labyrinthine complexities of economic policy had precipitated an atmosphere of unmitigated despondency amongst Nigerians, particularly the plebeian masses.
The erstwhile governor of Benue State, Dr. Samuel Ortom, had presciently intuited the imperative of establishing a forest guard to quell the hydra-headed menace of marauding herders and terrorists that had been terrorising the citizenry.
In a paradigmatic shift, the establishment of the National Forest Guards appears to be a sagacious stratagem, redolent of the erstwhile calls for a comprehensive overhaul of the country’s security architecture.
The President’s directive to arm and train these forest guards, in tandem with the federal and state governments, bespeaks a resolute determination to reclaim the country’s forests from the grasp of nefarious elements.
This initiative, coupled with the abolition of tuition fees in Unity Schools, portends a promising trajectory for the administration.

As the office of the National Security Adviser and the Ministry of Environment assume stewardship of this initiative, one can only hope that this heralds the dawn of a new era of security and prosperity for the nation.
