President Bola Tinubu has extended heartfelt congratulations to the Super Falcons of Nigeria following their triumphant victory at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), where they clinched a historic 10th continental title.
In a statement released on Saturday by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, President Tinubu commended the Falcons for their resilience and spirited comeback to defeat host nation Morocco in a gripping final match held in Rabat.
“The Super Falcons’ spectacular performance tonight in Rabat, coming from behind to beat a spirited Moroccan side playing in front of a passionate home crowd, exemplifies the determination that defines the Nigerian spirit,” the President said.
He praised the team for their hard work, dedication, and tenacity, which he said culminated in a victory the entire nation dreamed of and fervently prayed for.
“With hard work, dedication, and tenacity, you have achieved the mission the nation dreamed of and prayed for. The nation looks forward to welcoming our champions. Congratulations! Nigeria celebrates you,” the President added.
The victory further cements Nigeria’s position as the most successful team in the history of WAFCON, reaffirming the country’s dominance in African women’s football.
