Suspended Kogi Central Senator, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has announced her return to the Senate on Tuesday. The embattled Senator was suspended for six months on March 6 following a clash with the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio.
Although the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja last week under Justice Binta Nyako upheld the Senate’s power to suspend members, it deemed the six-month duration excessive, as it denied the Senator’s constituents representation. The court also fined her ₦5 million for violating a previous order.
On her part, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan called the ruling a victory.
Meanwhile, the Senate says it is awaiting the Certified True Copy (CTC) of the judgment before taking further steps.
