The Nigerian Senate has confirmed the appointment of 64 nominees for career and non-career ambassadorial positions.
The confirmation followed the consideration and adoption of a report presented by the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs, chaired by Senator Sani Bello.
During plenary deliberations, Senator Sahabi Yau raised concerns over the absence of any nominee from Zamfara State in the list submitted to the Senate. He urged the Senate leadership to formally draw the attention of the President to the omission.
Responding, Senate President Godswill Akpabio acknowledged the concern, explaining that the list presented for confirmation was not exhaustive. He assured lawmakers that the matter would be communicated to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and emphasized that Zamfara State would not be excluded in subsequent ambassadorial appointments.
