A joint security operation led by 63 Brigade, Asaba, has recovered N7.5m paid as ransom to kidnappers in Ibusa, Oshimili North local government area of Delta State.
The money was collected from the family of one Christopher Owah, who was kidnapped in front of his residence at Akwualusi, near St. Thomas’ College, Ibusa.
Harrison Gwamnishu, of the Safe City Volunteer Foundation, who shared the story, said he had warned residents of Delta North about the resurgence of armed kidnappers in the area.
According to him, “Immediately after the payment, through our Tech System Air Surveillance, we tracked the kidnappers to their hideout. A fierce gun battle ensued between the kidnappers and the joint team of 63 Brigade, Asaba, and NFSS operatives.
“The kidnapped victim is home and receiving medical treatment.
“A total sum of ₦7,500,000 was successfully recovered from the kidnappers.
He added, “Special thanks to His Excellency, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori for his steadfast support.”
