A retired Deputy Inspector General of Police, Parry Benjamin Osemwegie Osayande, has passed away.
According to reports, Osayande died in the early hours of Sunday, just a day before his 89th birthday.
His death was confirmed in a statement issued by the President of the Immaculate Conception College Old Boys’ Association (ICCOBA) Worldwide, Engr. Ighodalo Edetanlen, on behalf of the National Executive Committee.
The statement, titled “Condolence: DIG Parry Osayande (Retd)”, described him as an exemplary old boy of the college, located in Benin City, Edo State.
“Born September 29, 1936, DIG Parry Osayande was to clock 89 on September 29, 2025. He served the Nigeria Police Force in several capacities, including Commissioner of Police in Benue and Cross River States, and as Chairman of the Police Service Commission, among others,” the statement read.
While mourning his passing, ICCOBA urged members to keep his family in prayers, adding that burial details will be announced in due course.
“May God grant him and all the faithful departed eternal rest in Jesus’ name, Amen,” the statement concluded.
