In a bold act of resistance, residents of Bimasa town in Tureta Local Government Area of Sokoto State have taken matters into their own hands, confronting a group of armed bandits, rescuing abducted community members, and reportedly killing several of the attackers—without the involvement of security forces.
According to sources who spoke with security analyst Zagazola Makama, the residents launched a counter-attack by pursuing the bandits into their forest hideouts. In a fierce and daring operation, they engaged the assailants directly, resulting in the deaths of multiple bandits and the safe recovery of kidnapped victims.
In a symbolic gesture, the residents returned to town with the leg of one of the bandits as a trophy—signifying their victory.
Community leaders praised the bravery and unity shown by the residents and urged government authorities to deploy additional security forces to the area, warning of a possible retaliatory attack by the bandits.
