It was a total lockdown yesterday in Agbarho, Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State when Residents of the community, comprising women and youths came out in thousands to stage a peaceful protest over missing Children which has been on for over two months now.
The embittered people who staged the peaceful protest within the town barricaded a popular junction known as 5 Junction therefore preventing vehicles coming from the Okan Junction and Orido Junction making the road inaccessible.
The Protesters carried placards with the inscription such as “stop insecurity in Agbarho Community, save our Children, Say no to Taskforce, Children harassment and other Inscriptions”.
Efforts made by the President – General of Agbarho Urhobo Improvement Union (AUIU), Chief Kevwe Edoja with the Police to disperse the Protesters failed as they insist in continuing with the protest.
Speaking to our correspondent, one of the Parents of the missing Children, who identify himself as Elijah, the father of Divine, one of the missing Children, said, the incident occurred on Sunday afternoon, September 14, 2025 when they came back from Church, adding that after resting for a while, we started making preparation for the following day school resumption, stressing that by that time, two of the Children including the missing one were playing outside, but when he came outside, he couldn’t find Divine, it was then, he was told that a young man came around and sent little Divine, 4 years old to go and buy a sachet water, adding that it was then he raised an alarm and started searching for him with support from neighbors around, all to no avail.
Mr. Elijah appealed to Agbarho Community Leaders and the Nigeria Police to help him find his Son.
Also speaking to our correspondent, the wife, Favour Agege said, baby boy, Divine was delivered through operation, adding that after the delivering, the boy was in Oxygen over weeks, stressing that the boy is so dear to him.
Also speaking an aggrieved youth, Mr. Oghenefejiro said, “This recent trend of Children being stolen like Chicken from day to day and week to week for some time now is projecting Agbarho image in a bad light.
He therefore appealed to the Osuivie (King) of Agbarho Kingdom, HRM Samson Ogugu 1, the President – General of Agbarho, Chief Kevwe Edoja and the Nigeria Police to help in the search of the missing Divine and other missing Children.
Parents now monitor their Children 24 hours in Agbarho for fear of being stolen.
