President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved changes in the hierarchy of the Service Chiefs, as part of ongoing efforts by the Federal Government to strengthen Nigeria’s national security architecture.
The President appointed General Olufemi Oluyede as the new Chief of Defence Staff, replacing General Christopher Musa.
The new Chief of Army Staff is Major-General W. Shaibu.
Air Vice Marshal S.K. Aneke has been appointed Chief of Air Staff, while Rear Admiral I. Abbas becomes the Chief of Naval Staff.
The Chief of Defence Intelligence, Major-General E.A.P. Undiendeye, retains his position.
President Tinubu, who serves as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, expresses his profound appreciation to the outgoing Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, and the other former Service Chiefs for their patriotic service and dedicated leadership to the nation.
The President charges the newly appointed Service Chiefs to justify the confidence reposed in them by enhancing professionalism, vigilance, and comradeship within the Armed Forces of Nigeria.
Presidential spokesman Sunday Dare said in a statement that all appointments take immediate effect.
