…passes vote of confidence on Ortom, Abba Moro, Adaji
Following the resignation of some members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Tarka Local Government Area, leaders of the party held an expanded stakeholders meeting Sunday, August 10, 2025, and affirmed that the party remains the most viable political platform that will guarantee good governance and address the yearnings and aspirations of Nigerians.
The leaders also unanimously, passed a vote of confidence on the PDP leader of PDP in Benue state and immediate past Governor, Chief Samuel Ortom; the Senate Minority Leader at the National Assembly, Senator Abba Moro and Rt. Hon Ezekiel Adaji, the State Chairman of the party for their commitment to rebuild and reposition the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The meeting which was held at Sky Gate Hotel, Wannune, drew Stakeholders from all the ten Council Wards of Tarka Local Government, former elected and Supervisory Councillors and other critical stakeholders.
Key amongst the resolutions during the meeting was the resolve to strengthen the party’s structures at the Wards and local government levels and set it on the winning-path as 2027 poll draws closer.
The leaders commended members of the party for mobilizing and reassuring members at the Ward and local government levels despite the resignation of some of its members.
They also directed both the local government EXCO and party Ward Chairmen to identify positions that became vacant as a result of the recent resignations.
Those who spoke included the former Commissioner for Rural Development and Cooperatives, Engr. Victor Ukaha, former Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Hon. Nathaniel Ikyur among others.
They all commended the passion and zeal shown by the teeming members of the party as the party re-strategises to reclaim it’s position in Benue State and Nigeria in general.
Others who also spoke during the meeting are the Leader of G-14 in the local government, Hon. Aperaikyaa Igba; Hon. Luka, member of the State EXCO, the Local Government party Chairman, Hon. Sughter Iorliam, Legal Adviser, the Woman and Youth Leaders as well as former elected and Supervisory Councillors who are still members of the PDP.
The meeting observed a minute silence in honour of the State Youth Leader of the party, the late Hon. Atondo Ibya and prayed God to grant him eternal rest, comfort his immediate family and give them the strength to bear the irreplaceable loss.
