Nigeria’s para powerlifting queen, Folashade Oluwafemiayo, has, once again, proven her dominance on the global stage, setting new African and world records at the 2025 World Para Powerlifting Championships in Cairo, Egypt.
The four-time world champion thrilled spectators after lifting an incredible 168kg in the women’s over 86kg category — surpassing her own previous world record.
Her remarkable performance earned her double gold medals in both the total lift and best lift events.
Oluwafemiayo, who also clinched gold at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, has now stretched her world title streak to four, reaffirming her status as one of the greatest athletes in the sport’s history.
In a fiercely contested event, Wenjun of China took silver with a 157kg total, while Iran’s Nikoo Rozbahani claimed bronze with a 152kg lift.
Reacting to her latest achievement, a visibly elated Oluwafemiayo thanked her coaches, teammates, the Weightlifting Federation, and the Nigerian Sports Commission for their unwavering support.
