The redeployment, directed by a police signal dated December 16, 2025, affects officers previously deployed to provide close protection at the Presidential Villa. The officers are to return to their respective state commands, including:
Adamawa Command: 13 officers, including Inspectors Baba Ibrahim, Emmanuel Buba, and Idris Yahaya, have been redeployed to Adamawa.
Kebbi Command: 18 officers, including Inspectors Abala Yahaya, Joshua Bako, and Jamilu Garba, have been redeployed to Kebbi.
Kaduna Command :14 officers, including Inspectors Abubakar Bawale, Shehu Umar, and Nura Isyaku, have been redeployed to Kaduna .
This move follows a directive by President Bola Tinubu in November, ordering the withdrawal of police officers from VIP escort and guard duties. The President directed that these officers be reassigned to core policing duties amid rising insecurity across the country .
The redeployment is part of a broader effort to refocus police manpower on frontline duties and core policing functions. The IGP has emphasized the need for a more proactive and responsive policing framework, with a focus on community engagement and intelligence-led policing
