Nasarawa State Governor, Engr. Abdullahi Sule and Vice Chancellor, Nasarawa State University, Keffi were among prominent Nigerians honoured yesterday, at the prestigious Verbatim Awards Ceremony held at the Shehu Musa Yar’adua Centre in Abuja, marking the 13th anniversary of Verbatim Magazine.
Governor Abdullahi Sule, was honored with the esteemed “Governor of the Year in Good Governance and Integrity Award.” The organizers said his recognition highlights commitment to ethical governance and development in the state.
Also, honoured was Professor Sa’adatu Hassan Liman, the first female indigenous Vice-Chancellor of Nasarawa State University, Keffi. The VC received the Distinguished Patriot Award. According to the magazine, her recognition reflects her significant contributions to academia and her dedication to fostering education in Nigeria.
The event included a keynote lecture delivered by Governor Sule, titled “Changing Times and the Challenge of Leadership in Nigeria: Candid Views of an Uncommon Patriot.”
In his address, the Governor shared insights on the evolving landscape of leadership in the country, emphasizing the need for innovative approaches to governance in the face of contemporary challenges.
This year’s awards not only celebrate the accomplishments of these outstanding leaders but also serve as a reminder of the importance of integrity and dedication to service in the pursuit of a better Nigeria.
