The Chairman, Ika South Local Government ( LG) of Delta State, Engr. Jerry Ehiwarior, has expressed deep sorrow over the transition of a community leader and retired officer of the Nigerian Army, General Nick Agbogun, whose sad event occurred a few days ago.
Ehiwarior, in a heartfelt condolence message through his Chief Press Secretary, Jonathan Onwuka, on Saturday, described the sudden death of General Agbogun as a great shock and huge loss to not only his immediate Alizomor community but the entire Agbor Kingdom and Ika South Local Government Area.
According to the LG boss, the late former President- General of Agbor Community Union (ACU), was a symbol of peace, wisdom, and courage, who was fully committed to the growth and upliftment of Agbor Kingdom.
Ehiwarior said the late General was an amazing leader whose sojourn on Earth was truly remarkable, leaving indelible footprints that would be difficult to erase.
“Our dear father who just exited this world was a man of great influence whose commitment and contributions to the growth and development of the nation would forever be remembered.
“As a soldier who served meritoriously, he played a significant role in the peace and stability of our dear country,” he stated.
Ehiwarior noted that with the passage of General Agbogun, Agbor Kingdom, and indeed Ika South Local Government Area, had lost a most cherished and patriotic leader, whose towering legacies would remain indelible.
He added that, “his stint as leader of the apex Agbor socio-cultural organisation, ACU, was marked by stability, progress and advancement of the interest of the Kingdom. From our first encounter until his death, we had maintained close relationship akin to that of father and son. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.”
The Chairman said that “‘while we all mourn, I urge us all, particularly those he left behind, his family in particular, to take solace in his good legacy. I pray for the repose of his soul.”
