As Christians across the globe mark the birth of Jesus Christ, the Chairman of Ika South Local Government, Engr. Jerry Ehiwarior, has extended warm wishes to the people and residents of the area.
He called on them to embrace unity, love, and compassion during and after the festive period.
Ehiwarior, who spoke through his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Jonathan Onwuka, said the celebration of Christmas should be a time of sober reflection, and a period of appreciation and thanksgiving to God for His unchanging love towards mankind, through the gift of His only begotten Son and Saviour of of the world.
The Chairman called on the people to extend love and support to others especially the less privileged amongst them, stressing that compassion and genuine love and generosity remained the central focus and true meaning of Christmas.
While expressing appreciation to God for the gift of life, and for sustaining the people of Ika South throughout the year in spite of the prevailing socio-economic challenges, the Chairman assured of a better future, saying that governments at all levels were doing their best to improve the living conditions of citizens.
“This period of the year offers an opportunity for reflection, gratitude, and renewed commitment to communal progress. It is also a time to rededicate ourselves to the collective development of our dear local government area,” Ehiwarior added.
“I want to use this opportunity, once again, to appreciate, and thank the good people of Ika South Local Government Area, for standing by the administration, which has enabled us to achieve success in the outgoing year. I pray that God will give us the grace and empower us with the resources to do MORE for our people in the coming year.
“I wish all residents of Ika South a Merry Christmas and a prosperous 2026,” he stated.
