The Yemeni rebel group, Houthis, have confirmed the death of their Prime Minister and several other key figures of their administration in Thursday’s strikes by Israel.
The death of Ahmed Al- Rahawi was confirmed today by the group, which also said several other leading figures in the group, including the Defence Minister and the Chief of Staff, were also martyred in the strikes on Sanaa, the capital
Though the Prime Minister was only a titular leader and had no real role in the affairs of the group, his death, taken together with those of others, is seen as a significant blow to the rebel group which had been firing at Israel in protest at its Gaza war.
The Houthis had been attacking Israeli targets and had consistently fired at sea vessels linked to Israel and its Western allies.
Many of such vessels have been damaged or destroyed in such attacks by the group.
Following the intensity of the strikes and their effects on global trade, America sealed a deal with the Houthis to end their attacks, though Israel sustained its military gunfire exchanges with the group.
Israel’s attacks on the leadership of the Houthis are seen as a part of the efforts of the Jewish state to decapitate the political and military heads of the so- called Pro- Palestine resistance groups created and funded by Iran in and around the Middle East.
The resistance groups include Hamas of Gaza and its affiliates, the Al Qassam Brigades and Islamic Jihadists, the Hezbollah of Lebanon, the Houthis of Yemen and a sprinkling of Militant groups in Iraq.
The policy of decapitation is equally called mowing the flower.
Israel has killed many of the leaders of these groups since it launched its war on Gaza nearly two years ago
