In what is consider a deepening insecurity in the state, no fewer than 10 people have been shot dead by unknown gunmen who attacked a popular bar near the Okada Office in Akpehe, Makurdi, the capital of Benue State.
The incident is one of the many such attacks in parts of the state, which have left hundreds dead and many more wounded.
It was learnt that the gunmen, suspected of being cultists, stormed the area at around 8 pm on Sunday and opened fire on patrons at the bar, leaving more than 10 people dead and many others injured.
The area has since been deserted, as the gunmen continued to fire indiscriminately, after the initial onslaught that left death and destruction in its trail
