Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has extended warm felicitations to former Deputy President of the Nigerian Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, on the occasion of his 62nd birth anniversary.
In a goodwill message released on Saturday in Asaba by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, Governor Oborevwori described Senator Omo-Agege as a distinguished Deltan and political leader who had made significant contributions to the development of Delta State and Nigeria at large.
He acknowledged Omo-Agege’s impressive record of service at the National Assembly, particularly his tenure as Deputy President of Senate (DPS) from 2019 to 2023, during which he played a pivotal role in legislative processes and constitutional reforms.
“On behalf of the government and people of Delta State, I congratulate a worthy son of Delta and former Deputy President of the Senate, Distinguished Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, as he turns 62 today,” the governor stated.
He added, “Senator Omo-Agege’s commitment to public service and his contributions to national development, particularly in the area of lawmaking and representation, are commendable. As a lawyer, legislator and political leader, he has demonstrated resilience, courage, and dedication in the discharge of his duties.”
Governor Oborevwori also noted that Omo-Agege’s influence extended beyond the Senate chamber, citing his role in fostering democratic growth, especially through his leadership in the review of the 1999 Constitution and advocacy for electoral reforms.
He prayed for God’s continued guidance, good health, and greater accomplishments for the former national lawmaker, in the years ahead.
“As you mark this new age, it is my prayer that God grants you more wisdom, strength and grace to continue to contribute meaningfully to the growth and unity of our dear state and nation,” the governor added.
