German prosecutors say three suspected Hamas members were arrested in Berlin on Wednesday for allegedly plotting attacks on Jewish and Israeli sites.
Weapons, including an AK-47, pistols, and ammunition, were seized during the operation.
The men, described as “foreign operatives” of Hamas, are accused of procuring firearms and preparing “a serious act of violence endangering the state.” Two were identified as German citizens, Abed Al G. and Ahmad I., while the third, Wael F. M., was described as Lebanese-born, with nationality not yet confirmed.
Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt praised security forces for “averting a terrorist threat,” warning that Germany remains a target for extremist groups.
Hamas, however, denied any connection to the men, calling the allegations “completely unfounded.”
The suspects are expected to appear in court on today, Thursday.
