Constitution Referendum Returns ‘Yes’ Vote
Partial results from the nationwide referendum on a new Constitution for the tiny West African country of Guinea have shown a resounding approval .
The result showed that 70 per cent of voters participated and that 90 percent of them voted ‘yes’
The approval implies that, contrary to his post- coup promise in 2021, interim military leader, Mammady Doumbouya, can vie for the presidential election due in January.
A formal announcement of the outcome of the plebiscite is due later today, but opposition parties and politicians have called the exercise a power grab.
Phillipines
Casualties As Super Typhoon Ragasa Makes Philippines Landfall
Three persons have died and five missing after the Super Typhoon Ragasa made landfall in coastal Phillipines.
Packing a deluge of rain and winds of up to 230 kilometres per hour, the typhoon made landfall on Monday evening, triggering floods that submerged communities and caused much in property damage.
More than 10,000 residents of the low- lying coastline of the Asian country had been evacuated before the fall, following early warning by the country’ s meteorological department.
Search and Rescue efforts continue this morning as the typhoon moves onwards toward China where it is expected to make landfall by Wednesday.
China has already evacuated more than 400,000 residents of its Shenzhen region which is expected to be the epicentre.
Uganda
81- Year Old President Yoweri Musrveni, Files Paper For Historic ,7th Term
The President of Uganda, Yoweri Musrveni, has filed papers at the office of the country’s electoral commission, seeking to vie for a historic seventh term of office.
He is 81 years old and has been in office for 39 years during which he has won elections six times.
At the office of the commission in Kampala on Monday, he vowed to make his seventh effort the last time he would vie.
His main opponent, Robert Kyangulayi, popularly called Bobby Wine, is due to file his papers on Wednesday.
Supporters say Museveni still had the capacity to lead the African nation , but critics accuse him of sit tightism.

13 Killed In Drone Attack In Port Au Prince
At least 13 persons, including eight children, have been killed in a drone strike on a party in Haiti.
The kamikaze ( suicide)drone struck while a suspected gang leader was holding a loud party to which children had flocked .
The police launched the suicide drone strike as the children were receiving gifts from the unnamed gang leader whose fate remained unknown at press time.
Haiti, especially its capital, Port Au Prince, has been in thries of gang- related violence that has torpedoed the security of the country of descendents of freed black African slaves .
The high tempo of gang violence made the United Nations (UN) to deploy a contingent of international policemen, led by Kenya, to the country to strengthen the capacity of its security men to restore order.
Sudan
Casualties As Dengue Fever Hits Sudan
Caught in the throes of an internecine civil war, Sudan is now battling another emegency- Dengue Fever.
The disease, which experts attribute to inadequate environmental and personal hygiene, has hit parts of the country whose health facilities had either been damaged or destroyed by the effects of the war.
The Sudanese government has been waging a complex conflict against a rebel group by the name of the Rapid Support Force, RSF .
The two- year war has led to the death of tens of thousands of people and the displacement of more than 6 million others.
In and around Khartoum, the capital, thousands of people have been affected and dozens have succumbed to the affliction as the few remaining health facilities struggle to cope with the sheer number of patients, amid shortages of drugs and other inputs.
Following the overwhelming number of patients , hospitals have been unable to cope, thus making many of them to seek alternative treatment modules.

Govt Critic, Alaa, Released From Prison
Renowned critic of the Egyptian government, Alaa, has been released from incarceration .
He had been jailed for criticizing the administration of President Fatah Al-Sisi, and for allegedly assaulting a cop
His release by the Presidency followed severe diplomatic pressure on Cairo, especially by the British Government which Alaa’s mother, had intensely lobbied for his release.
Alas ‘s mother had done a nine – month hunger strike to press for the release of her son who has now reunited with his family.
America
Trump To Meet Selected World Leaders On Sidelines of UNGA
The President of America, Donald Trump , is to hold an interactive meeting with some of his counterparts on the sidelines of the ongoing United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York.
Diplomatic sources said the meeting would come ahead of his address to the UNGA.
The sources did not name the leaders with whom.Trump is to meet, but the development comes after several allies of America and Israel formally recognized the State of Palestine at or before the current session of UNGA.
France, Portugal, Australia, Belgium, Britain, Monaco, Luxembourg and Malta, recognised Palestine in the past few days.
The development takes to more than 150, the number of countries that have formally recognized Palestine, and depicts the meaning influence of America on the global state.
