UN Commission On Palestine Indicts Israel For Gaza Genocide
The United Nations Independent Commission of Inquiry into the conduct of Israel in occupied Palestinian territory has indicted the Jewish state for genocide.
The commission said that Israel had committed genocide on four of the five grounds of benchmarks laid out under international law by targeting a group of people with the intent to destroy them either in part or whole, among others.
The head of the commission, Nivai Pilaii, told a global press conference at the headquarters of the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva Switzerland, that the statements of Israeli leaders, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, President Isaac Herzog and the firmed Defence Minister, Yoan Gallant, as well as the pattern of conduct of the Israeli military depicted an intent to commit genocide.
Describing the humanitarian situation on account of Israeli operations in Gaza and other parts of Palestine as moral outrage,the commission, in its 72-page report, said it was unfortunate that the council which was established in what it termed the darkest days of human history in order to prevent a repeat of it, was, like the rest of the global community, now witnessing a dire repeat of the inglorious previous experience.
It strongly carpeted Israel for what it termed its unjust actions in Gaza and urged the international community to act to stop Israel in its track.
The report covered the period of October 2023 to July 2025.
It it the first time that the United Nations has used the term genocide to describe Israel’s actions in Gaza and the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem.
Meanwhile, Israel has debunked its indictment for genocide.
Its envoy to the United Nations, Daniel Meron, said in a reaction to the presentation of the report by the commission, that it was false and libelous and aped the narratives of Hamas.

Israel Rejects Report on its Conduct
Citing an alleged malice and an impish attempt to fabric and or manipulate facts to suit an alleged pre- determined anti- sraeli stance, Israel today stoutly rejected the United Nations Committee report on its conduct in Palestine.
The reportedly pointedly said Israeli was guilty of genocide on four of the five grounds laid out under international law.
A Foreign Office statement said the report was a rehash of the narratives of Hamas .
It described the report as a fabrication and called for the scrapping of the commission headed by Nivai Pillaii.
The report says that the Israeli state, its military and its political leaders , by their words and the pattern of actions had failed to stop it punish genocide, hence it must take responsibility for genocide in the embattled enclave.

Trump Due In UK Today
America’s President, Donald Trump, is due to arrive in the United Kingdom later today at the start of a two- day visit to the nation.
He is to be the guest of the British Monarch, King Charles.
The state visit is the second in six years by Trump, following his 2019 trip during his first term as President.
Trump is expected to be hosted at Windsor Castle, the official residence of the British monarch.
He will later depart for his private island home in Scotland.
Britain, the former colonial master of America, prides itself as enjoying a special relationship with its former colony, which is now the world’s biggest economy and its biggest military power.
Protests are being planned to mark the visit but security has been beefed up around the venues of major events of the visit during which deals are expected to b e signed between both nations on technology.

US Secretary of State, Rubio, Arrives Qatar
The Secretary of State of the United States, Marco Rubio, has arrived in Doha, capital of Qatar, as part of a diplomatic tour aimed at patching up relations between it and its main ally, Israel, and the Gulf nation of Qatar.
It followed his earlier trip to Israel where he spoke unequivocally of America’ s unwavering support for Israel, especially in its current effort to capture and occupy Gaza City.
Qatar, a core ally of America, was recently bombed by Israel which said it was targeting the political leaders of Hamas.
Six persons , including five Hamas members and a Qatari security official, died in that attack
The Hamas leaders were at a meeting to examine the peace proposal put forward by America in relation to the war between Israel and Hamas.
The development caused a diplomatic storm, with its global condemnation by the United Nations,most countries across the globe, and leaders of Arab and Islamic countries who met in Doha on Monday.
Qatar is unimpressed that America would allow Israel bomb targets in its territory, in spite of having a security pact with it.
America,in its defence, said it was only informed about the bombing after it had started.
But not many are convinced that America is telling all it knows about the incident.
Now Rubio is in Doha to seek to patch things up.
Experts say Rubio would try and convince the Qataris that Israel would never attack their country, even though hardly anyone would trust the Jewish state to show restraint in the face of overwhelming American support for it.
Aside from Qatar, Israel has attacked Iran, Yemen, Syria, Lebanon and Jordan, illegally holding territories in several of the countries.
Ahead of the Rubio trip, American President, Donald Trump, had at a press conference yesterday, assured Qatar that Israel would not attack it again
