Zelensky Defiant As Ukraine Marks Independence Day
President Volodymyr Zelensky today spoke defiantly as his country marked its 34 th Independence Day.
The East European country became independent following the breakup of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR i)n 1991, after Mikhail Gorbachev its leader, failed to hold the vast country together.
To mark the day, Zelensky made a national radio and tele vix isiom broadcast in which he spoke defiantly about its ongoing war with its bigger neighbour, Russia.
He said that Ukraine would not surrender it’s freedom to any other country, but failed to define what he meant by that.
He had previously vowed not to Cede any part of the country to Russia in exchange for peace, but appeared to recant recently by saying Ukraine would make sacrifices to restore peace with Russia which invaded it on February 14,2022 in an attempt to wean it of undue Western inclination.
Diplomatic efforts, led by American President,Donald Trump, are revving to find a way to end the war that has cost both countries dear.

Ukraine Baptises Russia With Military Fire Power
Russia today confirmed that Ukraine, overnight, lashed it with military gunfire.
It said that 12 of its regions were struck in the massive attack, which allegedly also targeted a nuclear power plant in the neighbouring Kursk Region.
Ukraine had invaded Kursk, a strategic Russian region that houses a naval bass and a nuclear plant, in the course of the ongoing war but its troops have since been driven out.
There were no words if the nuclear plant was hit, but Russian military sources said that 95 drones were destroyed by its air defence systems during the attack.
There were no words on casualties,but the attack came as Ukraine marked its Flag and Independence Day.
Parades were held today in Kiyev, capital of the country at which President Volodymyr Zelensky spoke defiantly on the war between the country and Russia.
Palestine
Israeli Troops, Settlers Destroy Palestinian Farms
Israeli troops and Illegal settlers have begun to destroy olive farms belonging to Palestinians.
At least 3,100 olive trees have been destroyed over the past three days by the troops and settlers in the agricultural settlements in the occupied West Bank.
Ten earth moving machines are being used to destroy trees and even houses in the area and indigenous Palestinians say their livelihoods are being severely eroded by Israeli troops and their ilk,the illegal settlers.
In spite of public angst against it, Israel recently approved the construction of more than 3,400 new homes in between the West Bank and occupied East Jerusalem and Gaza.

Trump To Deploy National Guard Troops In Chicago
President Donald Trump says he will soon deploy troops to Chicago city.
He said the aim was to check the incident of violent crimes in America ‘s third single largest city.
He also hinted at the prospect of doing the same in New York City.
The Trump move followed his earlier move in Washington, the capital.
Trump added that residents of Chicago, especially the young black women, had been calling on him to intervene in the rising crime wave in the city.
