The Federal Government has granted approval for the establishment of Tazkiyah University, the first female-only university in Nigeria.
Founded by Professor Ibrahim Maqari, Chief Imam of the National Mosque, Abuja, the institution is located in Zaria, Kaduna State. It is exclusively designed for women and may also feature an all-female academic staff, setting a historic precedent in Nigeria’s higher education landscape.
According to Prof. Maqari, all profits generated by the university will be directed into a special fund dedicated to supporting orphans, underscoring the social mission of the institution.
Tazkiyah University is among nine newly accredited private universities recently approved by the National Universities Commission (NUC). Plans are already underway to relocate its permanent campus to Kaduna city in the future.
