A powerful explosion on Saturday rocked the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON) factory located in the Kakuri Industrial Layout of Kaduna State, leaving one person dead and several others injured.
The cause of the blast is yet to be determined, but residents said the sound reverberated across many parts of the city, particularly within Chikun and Kaduna South Local Government Areas.
Eyewitnesses described the explosion as massive, with tremors felt in neighbouring communities.
Sources confirmed that one person lost their life in the incident, while several others sustained varying degrees of injuries. The injured victims were rushed to nearby medical facilities, including the Nigerian Army Reference Hospital in Kaduna, for treatment.
Although details remain sketchy, security and emergency officials are expected to commence full investigations into the cause of the explosion and assess the extent of the damage.
As of press time, neither DICON nor relevant authorities had released an official statement on the incident.
