The Congolese kept it late to clinch a lone goal victory against the Indomitable Lions of Cameroun.
Central defender, Mbenba, made the huge difference when, off a corner kick, he slotted in past goalkeeper Onana.
The 88th minute goal was all that made the difference in the tie in which there were few chances to take.
Congo is lookjng to a second appearance at the soccer world Cup in which its only presence was in 1974.
Cameron, on the other hand, has had eight different appearances at the soccer mundual.
By its victory , Congo and Nigeria meet on Sunday in the final of the play offs.
Nigeria had drubbed Gabon by four goals to one to earn the honour of the final game.
