Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has presented a proposed budget of ₦1.664 trillion for the 2026 fiscal year, representing a significant expansion from the previous year’s appropriation.
While laying the proposal before the State House of Assembly, Governor Oborevwori revealed that the new budget reflects a 70% increase — amounting to ₦685 billion — over the 2025 budget.
According to the breakdown, the proposed 2026 budget allocates:
- ₦499 billion (30%) for recurrent expenditure, covering personnel costs, overheads, and other operational expenses.
- ₦1.165 trillion (70%) for capital expenditure, targeted at infrastructure projects, economic growth initiatives, and other long-term investments.
Governor Oborevwori noted that the substantial rise in spending underscores his administration’s commitment to accelerating development across the state and strengthening key sectors of the economy.
