The indigenous people of Ijaw and Urhobo Federal Constituency yesterday urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to release and implement the report of the ward delineation which was painstakingly embarked upon by stakeholders in the area.
According to them, INEC is deliberately delaying the report to undo them in the next electoral process.
In a statement read by the Chairman on the occasion, Chief Victor Okumagba, the people vowed that they will not take kindly to any act capable of denying them of their rights, threatening that heaven will fall on earth if INEC denied them of their democratic rights.
“It is with great sadness, yet unbroken resolve, that we the people of indigenous Ijaw and Urhobo people of Warri Federal Constituency bring to your attention the alarming plan of INEC to undermine and debase the Rule of Law, supress and strangulate our fundamental democratic rights to participate in the electoral process and consequenly dealt a blow to democracy in our area”, remarked the embittered people.
They contended that previous elections have always been against them, as a result of the injustice done to them through wrong ward deleniation, adding that now that the Supreme Court thas done the right thing, INEC and its collaborators should not do anything capable of bringing uneasy situation in the federal constituency.
“We will not take anything that will disenfrachise them this time, adding “enough of the cheating”
They expressed bitterness that INEC is being teleguided, stressing that what they are doing now is criminal that should be condemned by all and sundry.
According to them “There is no way INEC can conduct any election until they comply in full the judgment of the Supreme Court.
