The Senate of Bayero University, Kano (BUK), has expelled 57 students for their involvement in examination misconduct.
The decision was reached at the university’s 427th Senate meeting held on September 10, 2025, in line with the institution’s General Examination and Academic Regulations (GEAR) guiding both undergraduate and postgraduate studies.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Director of the Directorate of Examinations, Admissions, and Records (DEAR), Malam Aminu Wada Kurawa.
According to the statement, the affected students cut across different faculties and departments of the university. The Senate also approved the rustication of eight students, while two others were exonerated.
The Senate further noted that the case of one candidate, Yusuf Muhammad Sani (ENG/18/CIV/00065), was deferred pending the outcome of an investigation by the Senate Business Committee (SBC), which was mandated to conduct further inquiries and submit a report for consideration.
