The All Progressives Congress (APC) has appointed Alhaji Ali Bukar Dalori as the new Acting National Chairman, following the resignation of Abdullahi Ganduje on Friday.
As earlier reported by THE RADARR, Ganduje stepped down from the position amidst growing tensions within the party.
According to reports, Ganduje stepped aside citing health challenges and his inability to handle FCT Area Council elections primaries for APC.
Another party insider stated, “the obvious and ridiculous outing in Bwari Area Council Chairmanship primary election of the party was the height of disgrace.”
The source further alleged, “Where the DPO noticeably chased other Aspirants away leaving only one Hon. Joshua Musa Ishaku who was a stooge of PDP and who had not supported Tinubu in the 2023 presidential primaries.”
The decision to replace Ganduje reportedly comes after sustained pressure from stakeholders, particularly from the North Central zone of the country. Party members from the region have long called for the chairmanship position to return to their bloc, citing concerns over representation and leadership equity.
Ganduje, who assumed office in August 2023 following the resignation of Abdullahi Adamu, has faced internal opposition over his leadership approach and the party’s internal dynamics.
In what is seen as a strategic compromise, APC is said to be positioning one of its current national vice chairmen to serve as acting chairman pending the election of a substantive leader at the party’s national convention scheduled for December.
Sources within the APC’s National Working Committee revealed that Ganduje, a former governor of Kano State, was urged to step aside in the interest of party unity and in preparation for the 2027 general elections.
