Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, has honoured Super Falcons winger Francisca Ordega for her stellar showing at the recently concluded 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.
During a state reception held in Makurdi earlier this week, the governor announced a reward package that includes N50 million in cash, the naming of a street in her honour, and the allocation of a three-bedroom apartment in a prime area of the state capital.
Commending the 31-year-old forward for her achievements, Gov Alia described her as a source of pride for Benue and an inspiration to young athletes across Nigeria.
While praising the Al-Ittihad star, the governor said, “Francisca Ordega has made Benue State and Nigeria proud. Her commitment, discipline, and talent deserve to be celebrated. This is our little way of saying thank you.”
Before this recognition, President Bola Tinubu had also rewarded Ordega with a three-bedroom apartment in Abuja, cash prizes of N153M ($100K), and conferred on her the national honour of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON).
