Bayelsa State Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, has passed away at the age of 60.
Ewhrudjakpo reportedly collapsed in his office at the Government House, Yenagoa, around 1:30 p.m. on Thursday. He was immediately rushed to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Yenagoa, where medical personnel placed him in the Intensive Care Unit.
Despite efforts by doctors to resuscitate him, the deputy governor was confirmed dead a few hours later, according to hospital sources familiar with the situation.
His Press Secretary, Doubara Atasi, confirmed the development but declined to provide further details.
Until his sudden death on Thursday afternoon, Senator Ewhrudjakpo had served as the deputy governor of Bayelsa State since 2020.
