Armed bandits have reportedly kidnapped six farmers while they were tending to their crops in the Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The abduction was said to have taken place on Monday evening in Layin Danauta village, located in Kuyello Ward of the Birnin Gwari council area, where the victims were working on a beans farm.
As of the time of this report, six farmers have been confirmed missing, though sources suggest the actual number of abducted persons could be higher.
According to an eyewitness, the victims were traders travelling in a golf car to the weekly Layin Danauta market in Birnin Gwari when they were ambushed. The total number of passengers remains uncertain, as such vehicles are frequently loaded beyond their official capacity.
“The bandits intercepted the car at Kwanan Danwandara in Tabani Ward, Birnin Gwari, and abducted all the occupants, including the driver,” the source stated.
“In the same vicinity, they also kidnapped two individuals on a motorcycle, taking all the captives into the forest.”
The traders in the vehicle were said to be travelling from Dandume in Katsina State, while the two kidnapped motorcyclists are residents of Kuyello Ward in Birnin Gwari.
Kaduna State continues to face repeated assaults from bandits, with another attack reported on Wednesday night, underscoring the region’s persistent insecurity.
