Again, Staff Model Secondary School, UNIDEL, Clinches First Position ln School Competition
The number of laurels won by students of Staff Model Secondary School, University of Delta Agbor, increased recently as three of its students performed brilliantly in a competition held for all schools in lka Federal Constituency.
The competition which took place in Agbor, the headquarters of lka South Local Government Area, was organized by African Foundation for Mental Health Advocacy, AFMHA.
In the essay competition, Staff Model Model Secondary School , UNIDEL, took the first, second and third positions respectively. In the speech competition, Miss Ogheneuoke Okonoko took the overall first becoming the Mental Health Ambassador, an award which earned her one million naira and other benefits from the Foundation.
Receiving the Principal of the school, Mr. Festus Onyibe, the Secretary of the Foundation, Mr. Williams Taiye, the teachers and the award winning student, Miss Oghenevoke Okonoko, the Vice Chancellor of University of Delta, Agbor, Prof. Stella Chiemeke, congratulated the students on the great success and making the Institution proud.
She described Miss Oghenevoke Okonoko as a serious, intelligent and focused student hungry for academic excellence.
Prof. Chiemeke commended Mr. Festus Onyibe for leading well and the teachers, especially Mrs Success Okoh and Mr. Prosper Nwajie for their passion and commitment. She urged them to sustain the momentum.
The Vice Chancellor also commended AFMHA for organizing the competition which was geared towards exposing and identifying intellectuals.
On ground to receive the Mental Health Ambassador was the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Prof. Patricia Mbah, the Registrar, Barrister Richmond Omagbemi and the Librarian Dr (Mrs) Vera Okonoko.
Speaking to UNIDEL Media, Miss Oghenevoke Okonoko said she was happy to be named the Mental Health Ambassador and thanked teachers of Staff Model for imparting sound knowledge to her. She said she would remain focused in order to win more laurels.
