Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, has rewarded Super Falcons coach, Justin Madugu, with ₦50 million and a three-bedroom bungalow for leading Nigeria’s women’s football team to victory at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
The announcement was made via Facebook by the governor’s aide, Pius Iliya, following a presentation at the Government House in Yola.
Madugu, an Adamawa native, was praised for his role in the Falcons’ dramatic comeback win over host nation Morocco in the final, sealing a record 10th WAFCON title.
“Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, on behalf of the Government and people of Adamawa State, has gifted Justine Pwanidi Madugu… a three-bedroom bungalow and a sum of ₦50m for leading the team into winning the 2024 Women African Cup of Nation,” the post read.
The team, hosted by President Bola Tinubu, had already received national honours and cash rewards. Each player was awarded $100,000, while Madugu and other technical staff received $50,000 and national honours.
