Hundreds of Itakpe, Kogi bound train passengers from Warri, Delta State have been stranded as the train conveying them broke down in the bush near Ajaokuta.
Efforts by the handlers to effect repairs failed.
Informed sources said the handlers have sent a message to the Train Agbor station to bring Engineers to carry out repairs.
Except otherwise happens, the passengers will pass the night in the bush.
Although a handful of police and civil defence are usually attached to the train, sources said a detachment of armed police men have been despatched to beef up security around the bush.
On the return leg, the train was expected to convey other passengers from Itakpe to Warri. On both sides, hundreds of people are stranded.
