The Presidency has firmly dismissed reports suggesting the replacement of Senator George Akume as Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).
In a statement released Saturday by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, the Presidency clarified that there has been no change in Akume’s status. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, currently in Saint Lucia on an official visit, has not made any new appointments.
“There has been no change in the status of His Excellency, Senator George Akume, as Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, currently in Saint Lucia, has not made any new appointments.
“The information circulating about Akume’s replacement is untrue,” the statement read.
The government reaffirmed its confidence in Senator Akume, describing the rumors as baseless and a deliberate attempt to mislead the public.
