In a lively game played to a capacity crowd in Seattle, Inter Milan pipped Japanese entrant Urawa Reds to earn its first victory at the FIFA Club World Cup.
Inter won by two late goals to one, coming from behind.
Urawa, flowing the right flank, took the lead in the 10th minute and, quite surprisingly, held on despite having only 23 per cent of ball possession and control.
By sheer resilience, especially in the backline, Urawa kept their lone goal lead until the end of the first stanza.
On resumption, Urawa sustained their tight group defending until the last 15 minutes when exhaustion set in.
Even then, Inter Milan did not succeed until the very last few minutes when it netted twice to carry the day.
