Real Madrid of Spain were held to a lone goal draw by Al-Hilal of Saudi Arabia.
In the dramatic game of the night, Madrid established the lead in the 33rd minute of play through Gonzalo Garcia.
Al- Hilal fought back stridently and in the 39th minute, equalised via a penalty kick which Ruben Neves netted.
The first stanza ended a goal apiece.
Both sides rallied to establish dominion in the second half but missed their few scoring chances.
In the 88th minute, Madrid got a penalty award , which Al- Hilal vehemently protested.
The ensuing kick was, however, saved by the goal keeper, who, in the last soccer world cup had two such saves for Morocco.
Madrid’s lost penalty was the seventh in the course of the championship holding in America.
