By Yadnom Awu/Asaba
Israeli war planes today targeted the radio and television stations of Iran.
Both stations were hit during a live broadcast, just minutes after Israeli government officials vowed to make the mass media organs of the Islamist state to ” disappear”
A live video showed the moment staff scampered for safety as the sortie hit the target.
However, the stations resumed transmission shortly afterwards, indicating that they had not been destroyed in the airstrike.
The attacks came as Israel intensified its attacks across the country, having largely impaired the Iranian air defence systems.
Not less that 224 persons, including children and women, have died and more than 800 others wounded in Israeli strikes across the country since Friday according to Teheran.
Israel described the media organs as propaganda outlets for the Iranian government, and vowed to dismantle them to deny the administration a critical tool for popular mobilisation.
The attacks on the mass media came against the backdrop of the alleged refusal of the American President, Donald Trump, of the Israeli pressure to hunt down the political leadership of Iran.
Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, at the onset of the shooting war, addressed the Iranian public, inciting them to turn against their government, which he described as evil.
Meanwhile, Iran, today, vowed a robust retaliation for Israeli military strikes on its assets.
It gave no details but warned Israeli civilians to stay off the streets of major cities, including Haifa, the Port City, and Tel-Aviv, the capital of Israel.
Iran , on Saturday, began deploying its new missile model to hit Israel, and, by official account, 24 Israelis have died, and about 400 others wounded in the attacks since Friday.
