The Chairman of Ika South Local Government, Engr. Jerry Ehiwarior, has stressed the need for collective engagement in the fight against insecurity.
The Chairman made the declaration Wednesday, when he received the newly elected Executive members of Agbor Youths Vigilante led by its President, Chief Sunny Ibude, in his office at Agbor.
He said the concerted efforts to tackle insecurity and other crimes within Ika South Local Government Area, had received a boost with the inauguration of the new executive of Agbor Youths Vigilante.
According to Engr. Ehiwarior, “all hands must be on deck to confront and deal decisively with the monster of insecurity, especially the spate of kidnappings going on in some communities in the local government area.
“All residents of the LGA should see themselves as partners in the fight against insecurity. That is why I feel happy with the crucial role the Agbor Youths Vigilante is playing to ensure our environment is crime free. I want to appreciate the leadership and members of the group for their dedication and commitment to ridding our communities of any form of crime and insecurity.”
Engr. Ehiwarior called on the leadership of Agbor Youths Vigilante to always liaise with the Nigerian Police and other security agencies for a seamless and coordinated approach to the fight against insecurity.
He expressed optimism that his administration and the Agbor Youths Vigilante could work closely to achieve a crime- free Ika South.
Earlier during the visit, the President of Agbor Youths Vigilante, Chief Sunny Ibude, while congratulating Engr. Ehiwarior on the milestones he had recorded since assumption of office as Ika South Local Government Chairman, said they were in his office to acquaint him of the change of leadership of the group, and to also solicit the support of his administration in their operations.
He assured that the group would work tirelessly to curb insecurity and make Ika South Local Government Area peaceful and secured for residents as well as visitors.
