Bill Gates Tips Africa For Lion share of Wealth Giveaway
Renowned Philanthropist, Bill Gates, says he has tipped Africa to benefit most from his $200billion giveaway.
The money approximates to more than half of his actual worth.
He said that he chose Africa over all others because of its potential and urgent needs.
Addressing a rainbow gathering of African leaders and professionals at the Nelson Mandela Hall at the African Union,( AU) headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia late Monday, Gates said,” I recently made a commitment that my wealth will be given away over the next 20 years. The majority of that funding will be spent on helping you (Africa) address challenges here in Africa.”
Gates did not specify which areas of the economy of Africa the funds would be channelled to , but held that effective investment in primary health care remained a veritable way to significantly enhancing the quality of life of the citizens.
He lauded African leaders that had prioritised the wellbeing of their citizens.
Throughout his speech Gates dwelt on the necessity for effective and bold leadership.
He singled out Nigeria, Ethiopia, Mozambique, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Rwanda as great examples of countries showing signs of what was possible ” when bold leadership meets innovation “
