  • Eid-el-Fitr: Tinubu, Akpabio, Abbas, Usman Pray for peaceful coexistence
…… want end to insecurity, hardship in Nigeria

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, House Speaker Tajudeen Abbas, Sen Lawal Adamu Usman have felicitated with Muslims faithful on the celebration of Eid – el – Fitr.

The political leaders in their separate goodwill messages called for religious harmony and peace coexistence as needed elixir for development.

Specifically, Usman who represents Kaduna central in the Senate enjoined all faithful in Nigeria to use the occasion of the Sallah to pray for an end to the unabating insecurity, and economic challenges confronting the country.

The lawmaker, popularly called Senator LA by his constituents, also admonished Muslims to use the occasion of this year’s Sallah celebrations to pray for the country and its leaders at all levels for Allah to grant them the knowledge, wisdom and the will to effectively address the various challenges confronting all citizens

He stressed that Nigeria and her leaders required all the prayers of the faithful to enable them to succeed in tackling the various challenges confronting the people .

Senator Usman said, “On this auspicious occasion of the 2025 Eid-el-Fitr, I want to enjoin the Muslim ummah to use this period of the Sallah celebrations to pray for an end to insecurity, hardship and economic challenges in our various communities and the country as a whole.

“I also enjoin all Muslims to use the occasion of this year’s Sallah to pray for Nigeria and her leaders at all levels for Allah to grant them the knowledge, wisdom and the willpower to address all these challenges confronting the country.

“As Muslims, in the past 30 days, we have all lived a life of self-denial, refrained from negative behaviours and conducts as well as other acts contradictory to the teachings of Islam, as enjoined by the Holy Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).

“As we all know, Ramadan is that period when all Muslims come closer to Allah through diverse acts of worship such as almsgiving, recitation of the Holy Qur’an, offering of prayers at night and pleading for the forgiveness of sins.

“This full month of spiritual lessons that the Ramadan period presents, gives us, as Muslims, the opportunity to resolve to live in accordance with the consecrated tenets of Islam.”

The lawmaker however enjoined all Muslims not to misconstrue the end of the Ramadan period as a signal for a closure to all the virtues such as charity, good neighbourliness and tolerance, which had been the hallmarks of their private and public lives in the past 30 days.

He stressed that they should all continue to reflect and exhibit in their relationships and daily dealings with other Nigerians the various virtues such as kindness, honesty, tolerance and forgiveness.

Senator Usman also advised Muslims to continue to live peacefully with other Nigerians by emulating the Holy Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), who lived peacefully with the adherents of other religions in Madina.

He charged them to eschew conducts that could instigate communal and religious conflicts.

He said the lessons in the understanding exhibited by Muslims in inviting people of the other faiths to break the fast with them during the fasting period to promote national peace and cohesion should be sustained beyond the Ramadan to further cement a harmonious religious atmosphere and national unity.

Senator Usman further charged all Nigerians to eschew the selfish promotion of personal, group, sectarian and other interests, and rather promote harmony and tolerance in their relationships with other citizens at all times.

He admonished Muslims to imbibe the lessons of the Ramadan period and to always remember those who are less fortunate than themselves, adding, “Selfishness, greed and corruption should not be tolerated in our relationships with one another.”

He assured his Kaduna Central Senatorial District constituents that he would continue to use the mandate they willingly gave him to represent them in the 10th National Assembly to continue to implement beneficial programmes and projects for the common good of all the people all over the senatorial district.
