Labour Party Obedients family gives financial support to Widow of Member , Christian Etuwe
Pro Peter Obi supporters, popularly known as Obedients have given financial support to Mrs Christian Etuwe, widow of a former member of the group in Ika South Local Government Area, Delta State, Mr Christian Etuwe.
The cash support was presented to Etuwe’s widow recently at the Ika South Labour Party Secretariat in Agbor.
According to the group, the cash support was to cater for the welfare of the family of Mr Christian Etuwe who was a committed member of the Labour Party until his untimely death in a fatal road accident.
The Chairman, Ika South chapter of Labour Party, Pastor Clement Irabor, while presenting the #150,000) from the State Chapter of the Obidients group to the family of Etuwe recalled how members, both home and abroad in Ika Federal Constituency raised #700,000 through voluntary donations which was earlier given to the Etuwe family.
According to Pastor Irabor, Obidients had given a total of #850,000 to the Etuwe family for the up keep of the wife and children of their deceased member.
He noted that such financial gesture had never been given to any member of the group in Ika South and declared that they were hurt by the sudden death of Etuwe.
He advised Mrs Etuwe to make judicious use of the cash support given to her, particularly for the welfare of her children..
At the occasion, the Vice Chairman of Labour Party in Ika South, Deacon Agbos Isima, advised Mrs Etuwe to take good care of her children, especially their education . He acknowledged the fact that the work meant for two persons was now left in the hand of one person, praying that she would succeed, with the help of God.
He encouraged her to always come to the party secretariat whenever the need arises. ” We don’t want to hear that your children have joined cultism or a bad gang” he said.
In the same vein, the Ika North East Labour Party Woman Leader, Mrs Ajeh Mercy, while counseling Mrs Etuwe enjoined her to be strong and determined.
” Don’t look pitiable; sit up and focus on your family life and business as women nowadays are training their children in higher institutions, building houses, with or without the help of their husbands” she advised.
She also admonished her to be cautious in terms of friendship and association, especially, when it was obvious that they might not guide her aright.
“Seek advice and counsel on your next plans from wise women out there. Also, take your children as your husband and best friend.”, she said.
On his part, the Labour Party Deputy State Youth Leader, Mr Egboh Blessed Tuesday, JP, said that the money given to Mrs Etuwe was not only meant for feeding but also, mainly for business to enable her earn daily income for the welfare of her children.
He stated that a time would come when she would call on people for financial assistance and no one would respond positively her because everyone has his or her own financial challenges.
An uncle to the deceased, Mr Lucky Etuwe, appreciated the Obidients for the financial support to the family of his late cousin and also for identifying with them in their moment of mourning. He prayed that God would bless them all.
