Troops under Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) successfully thwarted a pre-dawn attack by Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists on May 27 in New Marte, Borno State. The assault was repelled through a coordinated response by ground forces and the Air Component of OPHK.
Terrorists attempting to breach the military position encountered fierce resistance. Aerial surveillance and firepower from the Air Component played a pivotal role, neutralizing many of the attackers as they fled.
Despite the victory, two soldiers lost their lives in the operation. During a follow-up sweep, troops recovered an abandoned Vehicle-Borne Improvised Explosive Device (VBIED) SUV and Several motorcycles conveying the terrorists were also destroyed by precision air strikes.
Further reconnaissance revealed dead insurgents and blood trails along their retreat paths, suggesting additional casualties.
In a separate incident, troops also fended off another attempted attack on the Forward Operating Base in Kumshe.
The military hailed the success as a testament to the growing synergy and resilience among security forces in the ongoing campaign to restore peace and stability in Nigeria’s North East.
