UN Raises Alarm Over Israel’s Continued Blockade of Vital Humanitarian Aid
The United Nations UN, tonight, raised the alarm over Israel’ s continued blockade of vital humanitarian supplies into the besieged Palestinian enclave of Gaza.
The Secretary- General of the UN, Antonio Guterres , who raised the alarm, alleged that Israel was still hampering the inflow of shelter, medicines, water , cooking gas and fuel into the strip.
He said the situation was unacceptable.
The UN scribe conceded that a small amount of food trucks, 100 or so by the account of other sources , had been let in but lamented that while the number remained too small, the restriction of the other vital items was not unjustifiable, especially as Israel, the occupying power in Palestine, had the responsibility to do so.
He also claimed that even the food that had been allowed in had been prevented from reaching northern Gaza, where thousands of persons, many displaced multiple times, had been huddling.
The UN brass also disclosed that the UN would not participate in the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation which Israel, and its main backer, America, had proposed to replace the UN mechanism which had been responsible for the distribution of humanitarian activities in Palestine via the UN Relief and Works Agency, UNRWA.
Israel, with the tacit support of America, had accused UNRWA’ and its funder, the UN, without supplying the proof, of collaborating with Hamas, the Palestinian group that has led the resistance to Israeli occupation and annexation.
