Israeli forces today fired at a delegation of international diplomats visiting the Occupied West Bank.
The diplomats, drawn from the European Union and other countries such as Sri Lanka and Jordan were visiting the Jenin Refugee Camp in the Occupied West Bank to which Israel had laid siege since six months.
Following the development, the governments of several countries, including France, Portugal and Italy, summoned Israeli envoys to their countries.
Israeli military later apologized for the development which, they said was triggered by the diplomats moving on a route not approved by it.
The visit had been approved by the military for the diplomats to assess the humanitarian situation in the city of Jenin, the birth place and epicentre of Palestinian resistance to Israeli occupation which the International Criminal Court (ICC) had declared illegal.
